What is Culture Shock?

Culture Shock is the name given to a feeling of confusion or desorientation that usually occurs when a person leaves a familiar place and moves to an unfamiliar place.

  1. I have experienced my own culture shock. A few differnet times actually. The strangest came from when I move home from school in Scarborough (University of Toronto) to finish up a Brock. I was so used to be a minority, I experienced a small culture shock when I walked into my first class and realized everyone was white and I no longer stood out. I found myself standing and listening to groupd of foreign students to feel comfortable. They thought I was weird. In time I felt comfrotable with my surroundings.
